Call for Artists!!!

Smokin' Craic, Dublin's Burning Man DeCompression Party

...will be held in the Tivoli, Francis St., Dublin, on Saturday the 15th of November.

We cordially invite anyone working in the fields of electronic, interactive, vj, sound, or live video art to get involved.

For those of you who are unfamiliar with the nature of Burning Man, we'd suggest you take a look at the website, www.burningman.com, but here's an idea of the kinds of stuff that appears at the festival, including, but not limited to,

Interactive pieces of all decriptions
Inflatables
LED works of every type
Organic structures
Light & laser based installations
Sonic Installations of widely varying function & effect
Flame effects
Mathematical/CAD structures & engineering follies of every flavour

If anyone has pre-existing work that they think would play well at Burning Man, want to present to a very appreciative audience to giddily enjoy, and is sufficiently robust to survive within a non- gallery space for 8 hours, please get in touch with the decor team via the lovely Ines (ines_billings)a-t(yahoo.co.uk)

Sound art - sound artists should get in touch with Clifton via clifton.evans)a-t(gmail.com.

Fire Artists & Performers should get in touch with our fire performance co-ordinator, Michelle, at, minishelly)a-t(hotmail.com.

Vjs & Projected Work

We intend to significantly augment the Tivolis existing 3 projection screen with several more of our own, and would be delighted to hear from anyone who would like to vj or present projected work on the night. Keywords that might help in deciding whether a particular artwork/vj set is appropriate for the evenings optical zeitgeist would be:

Interactive
Western
Generative
Hunter S.
Bomberman
Science
Bizarre
Philip K.

We will make every effort to ensure that anyone volunteering art & energy for the event will be suitably assigned space, timetabling if needed, and visibility within the venue, so that your work gets the sticky desert love it surely deserves...

If you would like to vj or present projected work, please email diarmo at averylargenumber)a-t(gmail.com.

Finally, if anyone has work that does not particularly fit into any of the categories that I've laid out above, but feels that it would play well at Burning Man nonetheless, please don't hesitate to get in touch with me to explain a little about the work and why you think it would rock the show - none of us can even pretend that we've ever seen more than a tiny fraction of the stuff on offer at the burn every year, so maybe i've just been missing out on all kinds of craziness that YOU can provide...

Many thanks,
Dublin DeCompression Team
